The US bleak-rock project The Universal Sign For Choking revealed the eponymous LP on the 7th.
Eight tracks, approximately fifty one minutes, of alluring shadowy beauty (available on bandcamp) are best engaged with as the sun sets to a foggy half-light whilst surrounded by gothic architectural ruins to fully appreciate.
The hushed gloomy combinations of electronica and instrumentation deliver an industrial oppressiveness that cloaks the listener in a dark velvet cape while the mesmeric vocal takes control of the sparks of the synapses, which gradually slow to a near complete stillness.
The opening track – Valhalla – sets the context of an album which is well worth adding to the collection.
