The English instrumental-prog-rock quartet People Making Noises released the three track single We Set Sail on the 20th.
With their progressive ambient sound People Making Noises are able to traverse the arête between pure self-indulgence and wallpaper-music, delivering compositions that hold the attention of the audience through their trajectory of arithmetical precision and exploratory improvisation resulting in tracks that have the listener darting their ears with each distinctive refrain.
Bass serves as the guide-rope whilst the two guitars playfully interact as the percussion harries the progressions – enabling People Making Noises to deliver ideas which could be further extended with no loss of intrigue and interest.
My pick of We Set Sail (available on bandcamp) is the closer When Ships Were Made of Wood.
