There is a reason I implore of readers to suggest they are wasting their time as they are not listening to music merely noise who listen to the music featured on the site using the tinny squeaks of anything other than a full speaker system (unless they are in a geo-political location where there are no viable alternative options) and this is a prime example of why having at least five speakers is essential.

Turn up the volume and the sub-woofers to feel the windows, walls and floor buckle and bend to the intoxicating flow of the title track and opener The Shaman (available on bandcamp) while the mind and body flows in to the beat of the rhythm whilst drifting in to a trance of primordial synchronicity.

HERR ALT – Monologue – Single Review

The Netherlands nu-disco project HERR ALT released the single Monologue on the 14th.

There is a snaking beat which slithers out of the speakers and in to the room, which like a Cobra sizing up prey, sways from side to side before suddenly disappearing through the carpet to reappear in a different corner with unblinking staring eyes – yet rather than becoming concerned the listener finds themselves flexing the neck, shoulders, hips and knees and swaying in similar hypnotic action with equally fixed gaze.

The combinations of electronica, instrumentation and vocal, which is the staple of HERR ALT, has a counter-intuitive organic flow in to which the audience fuses their own central nervous system.

HERR ALT – Rush – Audio

HERR ALT – an electrowave project from the Netherlands released the début single Rush yesterday.

Combining electronic loops, guitar and bleeding vocal allows HER ALT to deliver music which is simultaneously nu-disco whilst equally retrospective of ’80s synth-rock.

More typically to be found in stage performance where the visual and electronic loops modulated by stage played guitar allow the material a more extemporised and organic feel, Rush, nonetheless, (available on bandcamp) makes a welcome introduction for those of us not able to get to see live performance.

Pip Blom – I Think I’m In Love – Single Review

Pip Blom is a lofi-indie creator from the Netherlands.

Pip Bloom

Pip Bloom

With music appearing fairly frequently, sometimes acoustic, other times plugged-in, I am glad to fill the void in the appearance of Pip Blom on the site with the latest track – I Think I’m In Love.

There is a quirky individualism to the output by which the audience can’t help but become transfixed as the singular vocal style captures the essence of the various songs, be they of forlorn moment, or as in this track, a nervous anticipatory optimism, whilst guitar bends strings to the point of testing tensile strength in a resultingly introverted two and almost five twelfths minutes composition the listener merely wishes lasted longer.

Multicast Dynamics - Frequency Modulation

Multicast Dynamics

From the fourteen track album (available through Denovali Records) Frequency Modulation is the eighth.

Creating music from analogue synthesizers, effects units, looped recorded sounds – sequenced on a computer and finally mixed on an analogue desk – Multicast Dynamics always creates tracks of intrigue in which the listener can stretch their imagination.
