The Belgian dreamwave creator Mélanie Isaac released the EP L’inachevée on the 14th.
Far from being unfinished, the alluring five track EP has a lustrous elegance to it within which the listener finds the rough edges of the day gently melting in to a mellifluous flow of electronica, instrumentation and the absorbing vocal.
Finalising details for the release of an LP early in 2018, the first track to surface is What If.
Having taken a listen through the back catalogue which stretches back to the last decade, one particularly notice of difference is that previous material, which has typically drawn on and been reflective of early training in classical piano with emphasis on dramatic chord structures, What If – is of smoother flow and greater emphasis on beats. Whilst the texturing in the track attests of a musician able to compose complex material in this instance it is used to emphasise the percussion and bass rather than the dynamics of the song.
