Idltry – The Rite – EP Review

The Russian electro-stoners Idltry released the EP The Rite a few hours ago.

Opening with Celebrate a rebounding refraction of light display Idltry set out their stall of retro-rave – inviting the listener to drop into the zone with synths colliding into a Scintillating scotoma.

Next on the four track release is We Are The Rhythm which bounces around the head in just over four and half minute of entrancing psychedelic arm waving spirals of mesmeric fractals as indented burnishes of percussion thresh through the room.

Magician is a funky trip to the ’70s finding the listener hugging all those all around them as Idltry deploy sharp escarpments of ridging beat with a proto-moog backdrop which takes the listener back to White Noise.

Concluding The Rite is my pick of the release OOjamaflip with its new-romantic hip-swivel and echoing softness.

Formed only in February Idltry is a trio with much to say and they describe it deftly, I look forward to following their progressive regression.
