The Italian indie-groove project Ellis Cloud released the LP Born In The 20’s on the 17th.
A ten track album which runs for roughly thirty two minutes and throughout its duration the listener can’t help other than join in with the beats whilst smiling broadly as Ellis Cloud delivers music to start the party. Of more import this is music in which the listener can glean both physical exertion and mental exercise as the one thing it isn’t is wallpaper paste.
Comprehensively written tracks are curled by complexities of instrumentation, changing pace and a expressive vocal in which the cerebrum can alight as well as the limbs; lungs and heart.
My selection being the ska booted, seventh and title track Born In The 20’s.
Nabucco Dinosaur is an Italy / France based alt-rock duo.
Regularly working with other musicians from around the world, Hesitate (available on bandcamp) which was released on the 2nd, adds two players and a US dimension to the track.
Akin to the global nature of Hesitate there are a melting pot of influences that drift through the room as psychedelia, americana, southern country and british-blues take to the floor. Though far from sounding like an idea sewn together from unmatched patches there is a cohesive flow to the composition in which the listener can take pleasure as the unhurried trippy soundtrack weaves its way through the ears.
daRKRam is the ambient-darkness project of the Italian musician Ramon Moro.
The creeping flow of brooding encasement gradually fills the room, and the listener, with the foreboding presence that is Equilibrium – the just under five and two thirds minutes – second of the nine tracks on the latest LP – Stone & Death (available through OneRPM).
The latest track to surface is five and a quarter minutes of ambient-wave in the melting shapes of Alchemy, which much like molten volcanic rock, flows and folds around the room asking nothing more of the listener than to lose themself in the moment.
