The first song to surface from the album. also the first of the eleven tracks – Valentine is a slice of music that finds the listener reaching out to hug the notes to squeeze them closely – sadly that is not possible, so the next best thing is to allow the mind to wrap itself in the sassy-sexy groove as it teases its way out of the speakers.

Sadly many bands don’t quite get the breaks they deserve to evolve in to the wider consciousness despite creating, first and foremost, top-notch music, gaining live performance traction and digging away at the toil, Curse Of Lono are one of those bands, despite a strong and loyal audience they remain just under the radar – that however sadly is also the reality of more general everyday life for far too many too.

With fortune this year will see things develop further for Curse Of Lono with performances at a couple of English festivals booked, four dates in Germany, The Netherlands and Switzerland scheduled for July, their regular circuit in England and occasional foray in to Scotland along with the new LP in the wings – time will tell.

LOCKS – Ripper – Audio

LOCKS, the England based gothic-blues quartet, revealed a new track from their forthcoming LP Skeletal Blues an hour or so ago.

LOCKS - Ripper

Ripper, which is also the B-side of the two track plus one remix single Bodies that is set for release on the 13th, discovers LOCKS in more jaunty mood than music of theirs previously featured. Although still of sultry visage, Ripper, akin to the two versions of Bodies on the single, though to a lesser extent, slides in a more celtic-folk influence that has been heard before.

LOCKS – Skin – Audio

The England based Gothic-blues quartet LOCKS are recording new material for their  forthcoming début LP.

LOCKS - Skin

Although only having featured once, over a year ago, immediately on hitting play in the first song to be revealed from the LP, which appeared on the 13th – Skin – the listener is reminded of their signature sound of a trotting double-bass around which the compositions cast their spell.

If anything LOCKS have become even more morose in Skin with bells appearing as though chiming across a cemetery at a funeral. Whilst the mesmerising vocal is given space and presence the engaging twist to the song being the fiddle afforded greater prominence and gradually building its influence through the just over four minutes duration adding a distinctive celtic reference to the track, which given the duality of Irish and English members of the band is to be welcomed and unsurprising.
