The US electro-soul duo Malibu Soma released their eponymous LP earlier in the month.
A six track album of carefully ironed creases, which rather than finding the listener laying back and drifting off to sleep on a warm sunny afternoon finds them seeking out the white flares, sparkly belt and linen shirt to flow with the funk dips of the retrospective ’70s disco afterparty.
The US electro-soul duo Prize The Wild released their eponymous LP on the 1st.
Prize The Wild
A seven track album of mellow flows which settles frayed nerves and although fairly smooth-groove far from fading in to the background, the music, which is tinctured with jazz influences, is able to keep the listener attuned to the eclectic collection of smartly constructed songs.
My pick of the release being the piano laden closer Alright With Me.
Earlier this month the début LP Fire Brick was released.
A six track release of introspective electronica cloaking an evocative and distinctive voice which finds the listener wrapping themselves in a comforting counterpane as the melancholic compositions reflect on the harsh barbs of life, yet, despite the sadness the audience finds a sense of catharsis and is a release to bring out when life seems a tad glum.
My pick of the six on the album being the trumpet infused third – Sucked Me Dry.
