Caleb Lemond - dub-reggae from the USA

Caleb Lemond

With only a few tracks to take a listen to, Caleb Lemond is of third generation dub with the infusions of the genre which has always been a little ahead of the curve of spin-offs from which much else takes its indicator –  lays out a tasty treat of street and club music to come.

Trippy EDM spires across the room in a sound that rather than finding the listener with clenched jaw discovers them with flexing toes and the hip-hop tracts are not of confrontational conceit, rather reminiscent of a playful vocal vogue as the steadfast banner of reggae beat strides with flag waving around the room drawing all behind it.

With a certain degree of unerring reference point, as a regular reader you will anticipate, despite what is written previously I have to select a track which reflects merely subtly of what is described. However – Steel Drums do demand a showcase and so I select Mr. And Mrs. Lannister to share with you as an introduction of the music by Caleb Lemond who I hope keeps throwing out ideas, as those thoughts have much to add to world of music.

Ease Up

Sunshine, dance and fun – that is Ease Up.

Well that makes for a short review, but in reality I have said almost all there is to say about Ease Up as the rest is mainly superfluous. Combining ska, reggae and some jazz based rock Ease Up lighten the spirits of the audience. Having been around since 2009 with over a hundred gigs a year and a couple of EPs behind them, those who come across Ease Up can’t help but add them to the must have playlist.

They are set to plug the hole in the armoury with a debut eponymous LP an 11 track, set for release in March 2014, which features a number of guest artists. The good thing about being a music reviewer is that I have had the opportunity to take a listen to the release and what a blinder it is – my English winter will be far brighter with this to listen to – roll on March when the sun rises in earnest for everyone that gets hold of this fine release.

The fusion of styles allows Ease Up to create fresh sounding music that slips unnoticed into the body lifting the spirits and should be medically approved as an anti-depressant.

Or to put it more succinctly –

Sunshine, dance and fun – that is Ease Up.
