The Cambodia based delta-blues outfit Krom last featured back in 2015, making their latest track, Laugh Or Cry, a welcome opportunity to catch-up.
Instantly, on hitting play the gnarled sound emitting from the speakers, is recognisable.
The twisted blues bend through the local influences to deliver a track that once again retains the attention as it takes a sidewards glance at the invidious wanton destruction of sustainable ecological and societal anchors for nothing more than insatiable greed.

Black Swamp Water
The first track to surface from the album, which was itself released as a stand alone single on the 27th of July is the delta-blues number Bitter Harvest, that curls around the audience like the twisted roots of a swamp cypress.
This is another musical project which only features every couple of years or so yet are always a welcome returnee, in this case it is the richness of the blues influences which always captures attention with the fifth of the eleven songs, the acoustic guitar led, timelessness of Sinner Song not being an exception to the rule.
The Swedish delta-blues trio Black River Delta will be releasing the LP VOL. II on the 9th of March next year.
Black River Delta
The band name ably describes the music which is steeped in the gloopy banks of the river Mississippi mud as the puddling percussion sinks skins to the floor inside the rims laying with guitar which is so gnarled that even the roots of the Taxodium distichum will probably be contemplating in evolving to take in the physics as a template while the bassy elements invite the listener to strum the strings as they poke out of the speakers, tipped by a vocal which rasps over the ears like a Bobcats’ tongue.
The first song to surface from the album is Gun For You.
The US delta-blues project Truett is planning on releasing a five track EP on the 24th of April 2018.

From the forthcoming release the song Run Me Down was released as a stand alone single yesterday.
Oops, I should have worn a pair of galoshes prior to hitting play as the muddy flow of the swamp water floods the room. Oh, what is that I have found laying in the gloop – is that a bass string poking out of the speakers I can pluck in unison?
You get the idea – music that bruises the sub-woofer and how could I not recommend turning up the volume very loudly for a track that lasts less than three minutes – merely – by my experience ensure you are already covered in a Sou’wester prior to committing yourself.
