The Greek triphop duo Στέρεο Νόβα (Stereo Nova) release the LP Ουρανός (Heaven) on the 4th of May.
A couple of songs have surfaced from the fifteen track album (which is available on bandcamp) the most recent being the fifth – Βίντεο Κλαμπ (Video Club) – an approaching six and a third minutes track that envelops the listener in gently moulded shapes of sound, which bear an immediate replay and thoughts of an extended reworking, which, along with the other composition around – Ισορροπία (Balance) foretells of an LP that will be a fine addition to the collection.
Following on for the release of their début EP Chapter 0 in September of last year three new songs recently surfaced at a gig at BUMS in Athens one of which was entitled Intro – I think I may not be making too much of a wild assumption to suggest there is a follow-up release on its way.
My pick of the three being the prog-rock weighted Cabo Da Roca.
The first song to surface from the album (which is available on bandcamp) and the antepenultimate of the ten, Lethargy, is of more psychedelic kaleidoscope than much of their music featured over the past five years, drifting through the room in slowly revolving fuzziness.
After a gap of six years since their last record and many scrapped ideas in the making the trio decided to head back to their formation and the rationale of why they got together as a band in the first place to create an album (available on bandcamp) which is both rich in texturing and in honest earthiness.
Flecked with droplets of psychedelia, fuzzy garage rock and progressive experimentalism Wealth marks a welcome return to the studio for Mary’s Flower Superhead.
The Greek melancholic-folk sextet Tango With Lions are set to release the LP The Light on the 19th.
Tango With Lions
Slewing the room with sweeps of a dark-purple cloak the first song of the nine on the album (available on bandcamp) to be revealed Proof Of Desire finds the listener rapt in awe at the munificence of vocal which is spun through lonely acoustic guitar chords whilst an underlying pinning of orchestration quietly flows in and out of focus in the background.
I merely countenance – do ensure there is a handkerchief nearby to dab away the tears in the corners of the eye prior to hitting play.
