Barlo is the avant-garde project of Marco Barluzzi from Belluno in Italy.
Revealing material every few years dating back to 2009 and most recently last month Barlo offers up music which stretches across the gamut of styles with the constancy of a sense of brooding cloud and fuzzy-synth, other than that his out-put is as almost as eclectic as the range of styles which feature on this site.
Barlo is able to create music in which ever style that is drawn from the lucky-dip that captivates for its spaciousness and expressiveness which confidently floats around the head as his flow of ideas pours forth.
His is a thought process that needs to be taken when you have plenty of time as although each track stands on its own, they are so disparate that to do so in isolation is to miss the whole point of the journey. Though of course having said that I will only be featuring one track, but taking the time to thread back through the three LPs containing forty seven tracks in total (all available on bandcamp) with each subsequent release becoming more expansive – is time well spent.
Valerio Lysander originally from Italy now based in London – England is centred around Valerio Lysander accompanied by Rui Silva (Guitar), Joanna Roberts (Trumpet) and Andrea Rocha (Cello).
I always enjoy musicians who stretch the boundaries of probability regular readers will know and Valerio Lysander is a case in point and it is thanks to this sort of creativity that makes being a music reviewer such fun and unlikely a space, as were I not doing this, there is a ninety-nine point nine recurring percent probability I would never have come across it and more than that, I have the opportunity to share it with you and we would all have missed out.
Combining the classicism of Mahler and Cole Porter should in principle have me running for the hills, but instead I find an intriguing space in which to lay my head for a while. There is a haunting fascination to the resulting outpourings which discourse an impressionist perspective on the surrounding spaces in finely composed pieces of music.
When I find myself contacted by talented musicians and song-writers of which ever genre it is always a pleasure to invite you to spend some time to consider that which would, day by day pass you by. I extend a welcome to Valerio Lysander and thank you for doing what you do so well, adding much to the world of music.
Kramies based in Colorado in the USA is an Avant-garde solo performer Kramies Windt.
Combining electronics and instrumental Kramies delivers a sound which washes over the ears like suds of soap. Somewhat experimental, the sounds are delivered within the edges of the envelope and traverse a path of connected points, allowing the listener to settle back and enjoy.
The fusion of synthesised sounds and acoustic guitar enables Kramies to deliver an out-put which has the listener holding on to the entrails to be buffeted in a combination of the cognizable and the futuristic. Whilst that may sound as-though it may be a self-indulgence the material offers more than self adulation as the ears are captivated by the constructs which offer familiarity and newness.
There is a reason why you read the website and it isn’t because I find the mainstream bands of tomorrow, rather ponder the musicians you may not otherwise hear. I thank you for allowing me to indulge your ears with music of the underground which adds a scintilla to the day and Kramies suit the brief like a well fitting glove. Ever to be obscure, but the world is a better place for it.
