The room is filled by luxurious atmospheric waves of synth, instrumentation and shadowy vocal as Scattered Clouds deliver, in 5xx (available on bandcamp), a six minutes reveal of two distinct elements with the brooding title track being joined by the retrospective B side – America – which minds the listener of Kraftwerk.
The Norwegian alt-folk creator releases the LP Skinhorse Playground on the 6th of October.
The first of the nine tracks to surface from the album – America – drifts calmly through the room as though borne on thermals as the combinations of piano and guitar ease in to the ears with an active drum-kit affording a gentle turbulence through which the engrossing vocal focuses attention.
The US synth-wave duo XYLØ released the LP America on the 26th of February.
The title track and third of the six eases its way around the room as though an expert plasterer smoothing out many lumps and divots, yet the slight distortion gives America a brush stroke which they proffer to the audience to paint their own imagery and rather than developing as a bland canvass they are able to create music of intrigue.
XYLØ, despite this being their début album have learnt the knack of creating music with perspective, allowing the listener to ‘envisage’ – rather than painting the wall and leave nothing to the imagination.
