Opening the seven track release (available on bandcamp) is the just over six and a half minutes of Welcome to Mendacity – a combination of guitar and multilayered electronica giving the composition a graininess in which there develops an ever growing sense of unremitting and unending air of industrial oppression.
The US ambient-drone creator Tristan Welch released the LP Haunting New York City recently.
The roughly twenty six minutes, six track, album (available on bandcamp) is a release that is reflective of the death of a family member who had been a photographer taking shots around New York and is a contemplation of her spirit still Haunting New York City. Although ostensibly a eulogy it is, nonetheless, a soundtrack through which the listener will find some comfort as the extended, rolling loops melt in to each other.
The third piece – Untitled NYC 3 – gives a sense of the overall LP.
SPOIWO from Gdansk in Poland is the ambient-drone quartet of Paweł Bereszczyński (Bass), Piotr Gierzyński (Guitar), Simona Jambor (Synth), Krzysztof Sarnek (Drums) and Krzysztof Zaczyński (Synth).

Drifting through the room like slowly rolling clouds SPOIWO deliver music that wraps the listener in threads of silk as the seemingly infinite layers of texture gently fall to earshot. The gradually evolving compositions, captivate the attention as they, ease their way around the room and like relaxing in an isolation tank time slows to an imperceptible pace.
SPIOWO have enamoured themselves to an expanding global audience with their finely blended orchestrations where synths and instruments seemingly melt one into the other in seamless billowing compositions.
This is not music to take out on a training run, rather to slowly imbibe like a fine Bordeaux, savouring the nuances and evolving richness.
Although having been around for a few years it was only in March they released their début LP Salute Solitude (which is available on bandcamp).
One can only hope it isn’t another half decade for the follow-up album.
It has been three years since EUS (Costa Rica), Postdrome (England) and Saåad (France) last collaborated.
EUS, Postdrome and Saåad – Different Streams – artwork
A six track LP Different Streams is scheduled for launch on the 23rd, released through the Russian label Grains Of Sands Records.
The three different elements – EUS the solo project of Jose Acuña, Charlie Floyd who makes up Postdrome along with Romain Barbot and Grégory Buffier who are Saåad, play each track together rather than a track apiece, which gives the ambient drone even more relevance for being featured on the site.
Whilst the music will take you on a journey of lost time, having had the opportunity to hear the six tracks and the bonus three, I assure you a mind warping and time bending experience well worth stepping in to, it is also the nature of musicians coming together from disparate geo-political boundaries and releasing the result through yet another, that finds this so inclusive and a project to be supported.
Equal Stones from Amsterdam in The Netherlands is an ambient drone vehicle for Amandus Schaap to work with sounds.
Underpinning the far reaching extended experimentalism lays an industrial heartland, which gives the material a fulcrum around which to pivot. Lengthy tracks draw the listener into the space as the compositions float slowly round the room in phrases of distortion. Not something to rush with a morning cup of coffee Equal Stones demands time of the audience.
The music progresses imperceptibly as the loops of sound slowly shift places in the sequence, giving the resulting output a mesmerizing resonance. Somewhat experimental in feel, due to the processes in creating the sounds, Equal Stones does not however leave the brain confused as the gentle progression allows the imagination plenty of time to come to terms with the resulting echoes and flickers.
A third LP by Equal Stones – Transgression – was released earlier this month through the Ukrainian label Hidden Vibes, a forty two minute – four track soundtrack for an evening watching factory lights from a far.
