Pure Phase Ensemble 5 - Krzyczeć

Pure Phase Ensemble 5

Those new to the site may well be scratching your heads in confusion, those of longer stay will recall the premise.

Since 2012 Pure Phase Ensemble – have put together a new line-up for a performance and here we are.

Released on the 21st this years release of the rendition of Live at Spacefest! (available on bandcamp) – an approximately seventy eight minute album of droning psychedelia, which this time round is all delivered deploying only one chord and only two keys – E and G.  If that idea seems familiar – that would be that 7faz are a core component of Pure Phase Ensemble.

The fifth of the ten tracks is Krzyczeć.

7faz – Faza E Cz.3 Sound Around – Audio

Continuing the theme of releases by letter – the Polish drone outfit 7faz released the EP Faza E on the 23rd.

In one of their – nearest to common song construct – the last of the three tracks (available on bandcampFaza E Cz.3 Sound Around.

If drone isn’t your packet of biscuits, you may find this relatively short piece running at only nine and a quarter minutes a digestible amuse bouche – though expect to discover neither verse, nor chorus – ‘nearest to common song construct’ is a comparative not an absolute term.

7faz – Faza B Cz.2 – Audio

The Polish drone nonet 7faz release the three track single Faza B on the 24th.

On the bounce I find myself recommending you spend time with band consisting of nine players, each completely different in style.  7faz is an outfit I had intended to introduce on the release of Faza A, but for some reason, although there are markings on my computer that I began to write the article, I never quite got round to publishing it, for a rationale I am unable to recall.

Faza B (available on bandcamp) lasts for a margin under forty minutes – so do settle back in the chair and dim the lights. With a sense of the self-evident – Cz.2 is the second track on the single. Expect to discover more going onwards by 7faz, that I will return to in due course, as whilst the world is often better for a song lasting a whisker of time it can equally be enhanced by extended drone.
