Myles Coyne the alt-rock project from the USA launched the EP Mouse Corn yesterday.
The fuzzy distortion of second of the five tracks Stoop Kid spreads around the room as though pulling the thread from the carpet as the just over two and a half minute track rattles the speakers. There is no volume at which you can play this that won’t have you thinking your speakers have blown as the lo-fi take unfolds with a combination of synth and guitar being harangued by percussion and the almost inaudible vocals disappear into the sounds.
Myles Coyne is better known as a solo acoustic guitar performer and drummer for two other bands and this change of direction alongside his two regular partners in crime (Steve Vorass and Chuck Zonk) Mouse Corn is a welcome addition to the catalogue of material.
