The US alt-rock quartet Lemoncollies released the LP GLOOMYBLOOM yesterday.
A ten track album (available on bandcamp) which is marked by the dampened hiss that permeates the room throughout the release giving the music an engaging soft-focus that soothes the brow.
Whilst the music has a commonality of delivery the compositions themselves are each of different construct and influence – ranging through progressive, funk-rock and trippy, to highlight a few. Rather than alienate anyone with the disparity of musical style it is through the dampened intonation that the audience finds cohesion in an album that no matter where you turn the dials will always just be in the shadows.
My pick of the appropriately named GLOOMYBLOOM is the second track – Lady Of The Sun.
