The US alt-rock quartet La Historia released the LP Low Mimentic earlier this year.
Almost All We Have, the seventh of the ten tracks is a solid just over four minutes of guitar driven rock. Were the song merely ‘solid’ I wouldn’t be asking you to take time out of your day, as there are many ‘solid’ tracks that are released daily.
In Almost All We Have; La Historia is able to take the listener on a back-catalogue of musical influences dating back through the decades without any of it sounding out of synchronisation. Of particular intrigue – the flats by the superbly delivered vocal – and bass which arise from time to time, along with the music travelling in unanticipated directions, striking into different octaves, when a continuation of note sequence is expected, allow the audience to join in, in, triumphant anthemic vocal chorus.
Low Mimentic is available on bandcamp.
