The latest song to be released by the English duo King Catcher, which was revealed on the 25th, is the glitch-wave Down Down Down.
There is a retrospective air to Down Down Down which draws sap from the rootstock of ’70s hiphop whilst winding down the pace to give the song a distinctive spot, not only in their own catalogue, but also in the current lexicon of the rise of reformation disco, which is their more usual specific gravity.
No matter how many times you play the song each run through will catch you discombobulated by the variation of expansion and compression at the end of each of the bars which gives the track a slightly unsettling tempo, that draws the audience to just – check again.
