The Australian garage-rock quartet Big League released their début LP I Thought Thunderbolt on the 20th.
A thumping eleven track album (available on bandcamp) that fills the room with distortion and delight, which having heard once needs an immediate replay just to check it is as good second time of hearing as first – with the resulting answer – yes it is and that makes for a good excuse to try it all again.
There is always a delight when music that the musicians are quite evidently playing with an earthy honesty and genuine enjoyment in what they are doing without meandering in to ‘what will work here to broaden the appeal’ surfaces and Big League are able to carry that infectious pleasure through recorded music to those of us who haven’t yet seen them in live performance.
By way of an introduction the third track Best In Show.
