Jannick Brochdorf (Vocal), Niels Alex Larsen (Lead Guitar / Vocal), Lars Ulrik Le Fevre (Guitar / Vocal), Martin Poulsen (Bass) and Daniel Nielsen (Drums) from Copenhagen (Denmark) who form the rock band Statement are finalising details for a forthcoming LP.
The track I Wonder Why, from the forthcoming album, was also made available as a standalone single on the 19th.
The opening phrases set the listener on to a heavy-metal mindset as guitar sets up the anticipated thunderous roar, only for Statement to take the listener on a completely different direction of travel by revealing a tempered rock ballad in to which the audience quickly settles as the quintet deliver a song with both passages of tenderness as well as furious pace all within the framework of their signature sound of multilayered texturing.
Sophie Colette a softcore musician from Brooklyn (USA) released the single Run Around today.
Focused through a soft-lens Run Around, a piano led composition, has a wistful melancholic, though simultaneously romantic demeanour which fills the room with tear-streaked minor chords that slowly drift through the air through which a more than capable vocal shimmers.
While the song never increases in tempo or volume, carefully layered electronics create a sense of ever more emotionally intense sadness and a testament to both composition and vocal ability with both being attuned to the subject matter and as a result in combination far more than the sum of the constituent parts.
The Swedish rockers Electric Boys will be releasing the LP The Ghost Ward Diaries on the 23rd of November.
Their lengthy careers, this being their thirtieth year anniversary, albeit with a fifteen year break between 1994 and 2009 has seen them dabble with various iterations of blues-based rock and always proving adept wherever they have turned their hand.
The forthcoming album showcases a band who have not lost their verve and enthusiasm for creating new music as well as getting out on the road – they are currently on a tour through to late December with gigs in Norway, Sweden, France and Germany.
The track Hangover In Hannover has been made available in advance and is also available as a standalone single.
The dystopian-rock creator Brian Eaton from Portland, Oregon (USA) releases the LP Hard Bent on the 16th of November.
A harrowing collection of ten songs, which although a retrospective of the Vietnam war is equally resonant of all the battles being fought around the globe, with a dour measure reflective of the countless lost lives.
Despite the dark subject the music has an alluring attraction in which the listener becomes fully engrossed through its roughly forty nine minutes journey. Bullet Sponge is the fifth track.
The Kundalini Genie is a psychedlic-rock band from Scotland.
The Kundalini Genie
Although I was sent an introduction to their LP Reverberation (available on bandcamp) some little while ago, such is my wont I managed to miss it, only catching the details this week, apologies to one and all. With some fortune a new song surfaced at the tail end of last week.
You’ll Find Out (When You’re On Your Own) is a mesmerising blend of spaced out guitar, keys and a completely absorbing sitar, which enables them to create music that seems to stretch in to the mists of time with a slowly pacing percussion which is all rounded by a drifting echoing vocal.
