Their lengthy careers, this being their thirtieth year anniversary, albeit with a fifteen year break between 1994 and 2009 has seen them dabble with various iterations of blues-based rock and always proving adept wherever they have turned their hand.

The forthcoming album showcases a band who have not lost their verve and enthusiasm for creating new music as well as getting out on the road – they are currently on a tour through to late December with gigs in Norway, Sweden, France and Germany.

The track Hangover In Hannover has been made available in advance and is also available as a standalone single.

A harrowing collection of ten songs, which although a retrospective of the Vietnam war is equally resonant of all the battles being fought around the globe, with a dour measure reflective of the countless lost lives.

Despite the dark subject the music has an alluring attraction in which the listener becomes fully engrossed through its roughly forty nine minutes journey. Bullet Sponge is the fifth track.

The Kundalini Genie – You’ll Find Out (When You’re On Your Own) – Single Review

The Kundalini Genie is a psychedlic-rock band from Scotland.

Although I was sent an introduction to their LP Reverberation (available on bandcamp) some little while ago, such is my wont I managed to miss it, only catching the details this week, apologies to one and all. With some fortune a new song surfaced at the tail end of last week.

You’ll Find Out (When You’re On Your Own) is a mesmerising blend of spaced out guitar, keys and a completely absorbing sitar, which enables them to create music that seems to stretch in to the mists of time with a slowly pacing percussion which is all rounded by a drifting echoing vocal.

Holy Monitor – Soothing Water – Audio

The quintet of George Nikas (Vocals / Guitar), Stefanos Mitsis (Guitar), Alex Bolpasis (Bass), Vangelis Mitsis (Keys) and Dimitris Doumouliakas (Drums) from Athens (Greece) who form the dark-psychedelia band Holy Monitor released the LP II on the 12th.

The seven track, approximately thirty seven minutes, album (available on bandcamp), fills the room with thundery clouds of motorik beat which they are able to bend away from the angularity of pace with the bleeding electronica to create music that even given its dour shadowing finds the audience laying in supine relaxing comfort gazing with glassy eyes at indistinct shapes on the ceiling as the tracks weave their mysterious journey through the mind.

Soothing Water is the penultimate track.

The first track to surface from the album is No More, which was released as a standalone single on the 12th.

A song that melts into the listener with its creamy texturing of keys, cinematographic electronica and evocative vocal as the duo deliver a completely absorbing sultry melody that attests to an LP to immediately add to the collection on its release.
