The Canadian triphop project Helena Deland will be releasing the EP From the Series of Songs “Altogether Unaccompanied” Vol. III & IV on the 19th of October.
The first track to surface from the five track release (which is available on bandcamp) is the penultimate Claudion.
With a softer brush than the preceding EP From the Series of Songs “Altogether Unaccompanied” Vol. I & II, Claudion, foretells of an EP laced in gossamer drifting on a breeze, taking the listener from the busy main-floor to ambient backwaters in which to free the mind.
The US hip-hop fusion-reggae sextet Collective Thought will be releasing the LP Rise on the 7th of September.
A ten track album that shines its critical light on various societal injustices while simultaneously filling the listener with a sense of optimism for the future despite the fractured reality of the present.
An album, which in the roughly forty seven minutes of its journey, in addition to hip-hop melting with reggae also on occasion steps in to smouldering soul too.
The opener and title track, Rise, which was itself released as a standalone single on the 19th – is also one of the most reggaecentric LP.
By title alone the contents of the box are announced. A nine track, couple of minutes shy of an hour and a quarter, of disarming, subverted, extemporised-feel jazz – which is available on bandcamp.
The music has an ambient wash, as disparate instrumentation and voices fold over the listener capturing the flow of the synapses, holding the audience in an imaginary tale of their own internalised creativity.
The US garage quartet The Naked Tungs will be releasing the EP Distract Myself on the 24th of August.
The Naked Tungs
Lifting the listener straight back to the freneticism of the iconic EP Spiral Scratch, The Naked Tungs are far more than a pale imitation as they resonate of the frustrations, tensions and anxieties of life in the ’10s with that similar raw unconstrained and uncontrived energy that marks out for a band I am looking forward to hearing much more of in due course.
The middle of the five songs Crossing was made available as a stand alone single on the 24th on bandcamp.
The England based dream-rock quartet Moon Panda head towards the release of the EP Pastel Pool next month.
Their latest track to surface – Rabbit, akin to previous material of theirs featured, heads in to its own warren of discovery through a tunnel interconnected, yet distinctive, of dreamy spirals and hazy undulations.
