The Ian Quiet Review

The room develops its own wave underfoot on hitting play as The Ian Quiet Review deliver their music which has an infectious beat that sublimates in to everything it touches.

The songs contain a dark menace that forms the signature of the output as the formidable vocal paces like a stalking panther while a captivating deeply resonating bass pulses through the ears whilst drifting synth and varied instrumentation melts through the snapping percussion.

From their recent début eight track LP – Seance Fiction – the second song – Hocus Pocus.

Seance Fiction will, if justice be served, raise their profile significantly from the strong and growing local live performance circuit they have thus far developed.

I apologise to one and all for the late handling of this as an email has been sitting in my email inbox for a couple of weeks.

Flare Voyant – Empty Soul – Audio

Flare Voyant is a funk-rock quartet based in England.

Flare Voyant

Flare Voyant

Drawing on their multicultural roots Flare Voyant deliver music which is a melting pot of different contexts and rhythms which they, like alchemists, turn in to 24ct gold.

The songs have a jazz influenced angularity, which darts through the ears, interlaced by soul grooves giving a flowing underlay to the sharply cut chords and the longer the audience listens the more the sense of the progressive-psychedelia that holds the mind in its grip becomes evident.

From their latest release their eponymous five track EP – the penultimate – Empty Soul.

LA River Bend

LA River Bend

The latest track to surface from the five track EP, the second –  Mountain – is a multi-textured composition of rich tapestry in which the listener is invited to sink back in to their favourite armchair and allow the luxuriant blends of indie, folk and rock’n’roll to wrap around the mind.

Dear Life, – Find My Rhythm – Audio

The English melancholic-rock quartet Dear Life, will be releasing the LP Hello Frankenstein! on the 11th of June 2018.

Dear Life,

Dear Life,

The dark beauty of the music on the album lays in its melodic twists and turns of synthetics and instrumentation which brings to mind of exploring a dark cave with only a flickering candle to light the way casting long shadows through the faint glow.

A ten track LP of brooding ambient rock has a hypnotic attraction from which the listener secures a feeling of quiet reflection in which to contemplate.

Over the build up to the release of Hello Frankenstein! a track will be appearing monthly the first of which is Find My Rhythm, the third song on the LP, will be available as a standalone single on the 11th of December.

milkd – Come Out – Single Review

The Scottish acoustic-blend duo milkd were introduced earlier this year.

The latest single Come Out (available on bandcamp) is of different countenance than previous material featured as the singular vocal is given more largesse in which to shine in the spotlight and the audience resultingly rests in greater appreciation of a superlative voice, though to denigrate the composition which is reliant on counter melodic guitar to afford the song its enticing ebb and flow would be remiss as sans the dichotomy of pace and chord structures the vocal would be lost in a crowd.

It is for the ability of milkd to identify that every element of their music is of equal important to allow the output to have its impact, even though to many the main focus will be the engrossing vocal, others of us are more fixated on the intricacy of a guitar which slips in and out major and minor chords with no hesitation or fracturing, which I particularly commend.
