Finely balancing music, message and audience isn’t an easy task and Yeah And She Has Red Lips Too traverse the ridge neatly with a package of sounds which has both compositional interest and a sincere message of attrition. The quartet is able to deliver their thoughts within a sound that doesn’t disenfranchise the listeners and for this I don’t criticise the band.

The powerful testament for me is the lyrical conceptualisation, as the band discourses societal fracturing.  The easy to engage rock derived constructs relishing in hooks and catchy refrains sits slightly at variance, yet suits, as it demonstrates that Yeah And She Has Red Lips Too is perfectly of its time in the country from which it emanates.

With a new six track EP coming out on the 25th November – Lost Generation Suite – I wish the quartet all the best in their direction of travel and it will be interesting to discover whether after the new release they will gain the confidence in their message that they feel able to hone the same razor edges to the instrumentation as sits in the lyric.
