Aurganic is Leo Pisaq (Synths / Keys / Programming / Guitars / Engineering) and Michael Kossov (Vocals / Guitars / Bass / Keys / Programming) an alt-electronica duo from Toronto in Canada.
This Monday as I am writing is for deep breathing exercises as for the second time, this is easy on the ear, as I am subsumed in the duck down ambience that is Aurganic. Whilst the music is restful on the brain that isn’t to suggest it is wallpaper paste as there is plenty of activity and creativity occurring to focus the thought processes. The combinations of voice, real instruments and synthetic sounds create pieces that have both an organic imprint and also an experimental edginess that works particularly well.
Having been around for a few years and known each other for even longer, the duo work well together, playing to each others abilities and generating something that is worth spending time with. Whilst predominately a duo, they also recognize that a third mind and set of fingers / vocal can add additional value and to their credit Aurganic are not afraid to add these dimensions where it makes sense and these interventions add a nice alteration in sound to the music.
Already with an LP behind them, the 2012 Life As a Canvas – Aurganic is available on iTunes*, a new release, the twelve track Deviations which comes out on 24th September 2013, identifies that Aurganic is proving an effective recording outfit. I can’t say this will sit on my must have everyday playlist, but the new release, which I have had the opportunity to hear is a superbly crafted and genuine body of work, most certainly worth adding to music collection.
