The second track to surface from their forthcoming LP Greenbah is Blood And Bones – a piece which has wider open spaces and softer brushstrokes than much of their material previously featured.

The dozen track just under seventy minute album takes the listener on an aural landscape of intrigue and discovery.

As regular readers know I am a punk rock vocalist from the ’70s and to me a song that lasts more than three minutes seems like an idea I couldn’t sustain, yet, within A Mile Until Dawn lay two tracks heading towards seven minutes long, with eight of them longer than five minutes  – and the duo are able to have me thinking – ‘well they could have run for longer without me gritting my teeth’ as ‘Les Paul’s’ (The Paul’s) invest in each piece many ideas, yet none of them extravagant or extraneous and there is nothing that could have shaved from any of the compositions that would have done other than to detract from their value.

My selection from the album is the third – A Thousand Eyes.

The roughly twenty five minutes album (available on bandcamp) only requires that the listener clears some space around them before hitting play as the dance-grooves tumble around the room.

Combinations of beatbox, saxophone, bass and guitar find the audience with a wide smile across their face, whilst lyric ranges from acerbic social commentary to easy flowing cheerfulness.

The curling folds of extended loops circle the room akin to immersive and infinite revolutions as acoustic and plugged in instrumentation paint the winding rope core, providing the listener with a roughly eighteen minute four track EP (available on bandcamp) in which to loose their sense of direction and time in the psychedelic effects.

Best heard in totality The Length Of A Line is an almost continual thread of ideas rather than chapters dividing a book, however a section that stands as a highlight – the second track – Tease Me – serves as my pick of the release.
